personality.
Troy is a no-nonense, calcuated individual who is immensely focused onto his own goals. Quiet on first impression, but will readily share all aspects about himself to those he trusts. Despite losing an arm (and possibly his family) to the matons, he hasn't completely demonized them like many others. A lot of humor seems to glide over his head, but he has a distinct laughter when heard. Troy has a soft-spot for those less fortunate than himself, and can be extremely charitable given some circumstances.
history.
Troy was born as a son of wealthy industrialists Mildred and Brock Osia. Brock Osia begun the business in the early 1960s, originally developing modest advancements to farming technology, including mass-market harvesting and crop storage overhaul, helping speed up the harvest of crop yields along with their shelf life. The business was enough to keep the family afloat in its early years, and the groundbreaking invention of steam technology in 1975 propelled the Osia business to new heights. Troy spent most of his childhood following his father from factory to factory, finding ways to occupy himself amongst the pumping pistons of the family-owned factories.
With the invention of matons, the Osia family would become heavy early-adopters. By 1982, 50% of the family's workforce were matons. Troy, now in his early twenties, tried to convince his father to promote him to a more business-oriented position, which his father hastily declined. Troy was forced to continue working in the grimy factories, developing a growing animosity towards his father, who he felt was unfairly keeping him from the family's wealth.
With the maton uprising in 1985, almost all of the Osia-owned maton workforce would rebel against the remaining human workers. Troy was on the job when the matons began to kill. Nearly all of the human employees were killed, and Troy's left arm would be torn away from the elbow. Miraculously, Troy was saved by a still-friendly maton, who preformed enough first aid to keep him alive and help him escape. Troy would forever remember the maton's serial number MK7-UUY-268.
Troy's mother and father would disappear, fleeing the night of the factory's uprising. Whether they would die or eventually flee for Aegeon was not known. Troy would spend the next two years saving scraps to provide enough for a ticket on the one-way trip to Aegeon. Troy has two goals: 1. To discover what happened to his family and 2. To utilize steam-powered technology to create new limbs, for himself and those like him.
